I’m Steve Lockyear. I’m the Vanderburgh County Coroner and formerly with the Sheriff’s Department. I’ve known Jason for over 20 years, both professionally, as a friend, and as a neighbor. So I’ve been able to see him in all aspects of his life. It’s been a privilege to know him, and really looking forward to him being Sheriff.
I have known Jason from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Detective’s office from Steve’s background. I’ve seen Jason go out of his way to help victims, fight crime, and really to better our community of Vanderburgh County. So, I think he would be perfect for the Sheriff of Vanderburgh County.
I support Jason for Sheriff because I’ve known Jason as Deputy Prosecutor for Vanderburgh County for over ten years. Jason is one of those who has worked his way up from a Deputy Sheriff to where he is now in leadership, based on merit alone.
What strikes me most about Jason is his passion for a safe community is a genuine one. You know, it’s not really something that’s just a catchy soundbite for him to run on. It’s a real passion for him. Jason has the experience to make a safe community a reality for all of us.
Jason is a committed member of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Department. He’s committed to his family and our community. He demonstrates his actions through his volunteer efforts throughout the community. Jason is an energetic and collaborative individual. I believe his enthusiasm for the community will be a great asset for the citizens of Vanderburgh County.
I stand by Jason Ashworth for Sheriff because of the person he is in the community, working with the community, and he serves on several boards. My husband is also an Evansville Firefighter. We support the local police, sheriffs, and he’s just a good family man. He’s a good person all around.
I stand with Jason because, being his daughter, I have seen firsthand the experiences, the families, the passion that he brings home every day with this line of work, and it’s not easy for him. To be able to go out every single day excited to go to work and excited to change lives is impressive to me. I know that he has a heart and passion for this career.
As a mom and a nurse, I understand the importance of strong leadership. That’s why I’m for Jason Ashworth for Sheriff.

I’ve known Jason now for, well, we were hired in together on the same list, so over 25 years now. I’ve never known him not to be a good leader or stand-up sort of guy. I’d be proud to have him on the Sheriff’s Office as our Sheriff. I’m 58 and plan on sticking around probably to 69 years old. It would be great to see him around for at least eight years of that.
I’ve been with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office for 24 years. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Jason and for Jason. I stand with him because he genuinely cares about the Vanderburgh County community and the men and women of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office.

I’ve known Jason Ashworth for 22 years. I know him to be a strong leader and valuable person. I appreciate your vote for Jason Ashworth for Sheriff.
I support Jason Ashworth for two primary reasons. Number one, I think he’s a true leader. He’s assumed leadership roles in every stage of his career, and I believe he cares for children in our community. I remember he was asked several years ago what he would do with the $25,000 grant for the Sheriff’s Department. Rather than talk about things like equipment, that sort of thing, he said something I thought was really out there, you know, really cutting edge. He said he would take the $25,000 and put it into schools, starting with kindergarten kids teaching them the ill effects of drugs. I thought that was a forward-thinking Sheriff right there.
